A net-zero energy micro-neighborhood in the heart of Phoenix. Ten units on a two-acre site designed for a site close to light rail.
Each unit has a private courtyard with operable gates that open to a community space. The twenty foot depth of the units maintains a constant structural module and maximizes the usable exterior space.
Parking is organized into four areas that allow the community to focus on the socializing areas rather than cars, but still remains close to front doors.
Advanced building technologies proven on our other net-zero houses will be utilized to greatly reduce the need for mechanical heating and cooling. Solar PV over the parking areas allow for the entire development to achieve net-zero energy usage. Our team is also investigating the use of a "living-machine" to treat waste-water on-site. All storm water will be collected and utilized for landscaping.
